All-round rescue work started after E China reservoir breach

Downpour-Triggered Embankment Failure Occurs in E China

Photo taken on Aug. 10, 2012 shows the flooded Wushan Village of Heping Town in Changxing County, east China's Zhejiang Province. An embankment failure occurred Thursday in Wushan village as a result of downpour-triggered internal soil erosion. The subsequent flood drowned 333 hectares of land and caused a blackout that affected 7,000 households. Some 2,300 residents have been evacuated. Zhejiang has been lashed by downpours after the Wednesday landfall of Typhoon Haikui. (Xinhua/Xu Yu)
