Ships of South China Sea Fleet joint mobile ship formation return to home port

The joint mobile ship formation of the South China Sea Fleet under the Navy of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) officially returned to its home port at 09:00 on April 3, 2013. During the 16-day-long voyage, the joint mobile ship formation successively completed drills on 30-odd subjects such as defensive combat in naval mooring area, three-dimensional landing of the marine element, combined-arms assault on “enemy’s” maritime mobile ship formation by various types of aircraft, maritime anti-terrorism and maritime search and rescue. The joint mobile ship formation sailed through the waters of the Xisha Islands, the Nansha Islands, the Zengmu Reef, the Bashi Channel and Western Pacific Ocean with a total navigation range of nearly 5,000 nautical miles.
