The National Border and Coastal Defense Committee recently issued a notice to clarify that the logo of China Border Control and Coastal Defense will be used starting from August 1, 2012.

The logo of China Border Control and Coastal Defense is composed of two parts: the graphics and the texts. The graphics include a five-star red flag, the Great Wall, an anchor, waves, the shield and olive branches to represent the mission, means, purpose and concept of the Chinese border control and coastal defense. The five-starred flag is a symbol of the great motherland, and the circle symbolizes the unification of the country, the territorial integrity of the country, and the solidarity of the military and government and that of the military and civilian as well as that of ethnic groups in border areas. The Great Wall with waves and the iron anchor represent respectively the integration of the land border areas and coastal areas, and the security and stability of the maritime areas under China's jurisdiction. The shield stands for the military defense control and the administrative law enforcement management of theborder and coastal defense. The olive branches signify China's concept of peaceful development and being good and friendly neighbor in border and coastal defense. The text part comprises the title of "CHINA BORDER CONTROL AND COASTALDEFENCE" in both English and Chinese texts.

The overall color of the logo is primarily in the antique silver color, combined with the national-flag red and the ocean blue. The color of antique silver contains the implications of the sparkling silver gun, solemn columns of silver shield, the safeguarded borders, as well as the well-protected country and people. It has the chosen color that tends to be prevalent in current international logos as well as themodern aesthetic sense of beauty.
