13th and 14th Chinese naval escort taskforces implement missions together


The picture shows the 14th escort taskforce under the Navy of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) smoothly arrives in the Gulf of Aden and the waters off the Somali coast at 17:00 on March 13, 2013, local time, after nearly 7,000-nautical-mile sailing for 25 days and nights. 
  The 14th Chinese naval escort taskforce has successively passed through the waters off the Xisha Islands, the South China Sea, the Singapore Strait and the Strait of Malacca since its departure from Qingdao in east China’s Shandong province on February 16, 2013. It entered the Indian Ocean and smoothly arrived in the Gulf of Aden and the waters off the Somali coast on March 11, 2013 after participating in the “Peace-13” multinational maritime joint military exercise from March 3 to 8, 2013 in Pakistan.
  During the sailing, the 14th Chinese naval escort taskforce meticulously worked out the training plans in combination with its voyage and organized mission-oriented training, having improved the capability of its officers and men to deal with unexpected events.
  According to the briefing, the 14th Chinese naval escort taskforce has successfully joined the 13th Chinese naval escort taskforce which is on the escort mission. It will fulfill two joint naval escort missions with the 13th naval escort taskforce in the Gulf of Aden and the waters off the Somali coast before taking on independent escort missions.
